Privacy Policy

This policy explains the information used when you visit Arcanum, search its curated index, or use its optional local profile, bookmarks, and notes.

Arcanum's Phase 1 sign-in is a local placeholder. The email address and optional display name you enter, along with bookmarks and private notes, are stored only in this browser's local storage. They are not transmitted to Arcanum, The Fey Seam, Supabase, or an account server.

Signing out removes the local placeholder identity. The profile page also provides a “Delete all local data” control that removes the identity, bookmarks, and notes from that browser.

Searches run locally against Arcanum's curated index. Search terms are not added to the page address and are not intentionally sent to Arcanum's analytics. If you choose an external Google search link, the displayed query is sent to Google in a new tab under Google's own privacy practices.

Lovable hosting provides basic site analytics and may process pages visited, referring page, browser and device information, language, approximate country, performance information, and a short-lived session identifier. Cloudflare provides delivery, security, and bot-management services and may set necessary security cookies. This information is used to understand general site use, improve reliability, and protect the service.

Arcanum does not use advertising pixels, behavioural advertising, or invented user-interest profiles.

Arcanum loads typefaces from Google Fonts. A normal request to Google can include technical information such as an IP address, browser information, and the requested font file. The installable app uses a service worker on your device to cache public site files for reliability; it does not turn local notes into server-held information.

Service providers may process technical information outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of the places in which it is processed.

Local profile and research data remain in your browser until you remove them, clear browser storage, or use Arcanum's deletion control. Provider-held analytics and security information is retained according to operational and legal requirements. Arcanum uses reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

You may delete local Arcanum data through the profile page. You may also ask a privacy question or request access, correction, or deletion of any information that The Fey Seam Press may control, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

This policy may be updated when Arcanum's features or service providers change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Before Phase 2 hosted accounts launch, this policy will be updated to describe the new collection, storage, deletion, and account controls.
